Ready Set Reline
Pipe Relining Multiple Sewer Stacks - Multi Level Unit Block
Project Overview
Project Duration: 6 weeks
This six-week project in Kirribilli focused on the rehabilitation of multiple ageing sewer stacks within a multi-level residential property. Due to the nature of the work, all tasks had to be carried out during dry weather conditions, requiring strategic scheduling and on-site adaptability.
Our team at Ready Set Reline provided end-to-end management, from initial cleaning and surface preparation to relining and spray lining, ensuring a durable and compliant outcome with minimal disruption to residents.
The Objective
The client required rehabilitation of several sewer stacks showing signs of cracking and leakage. The objectives were clear — repair existing damage, prevent future deterioration, and ensure full compliance with Australian plumbing standards. Our mission was to deliver a long-term solution while maintaining seamless daily operations for the building’s occupants.
The Challenges
The project demanded flexibility, planning, and a strong focus on safety. Work could only be undertaken in dry weather, which meant scheduling and progress were heavily weather-dependent.
Additionally, with the building’s height and access limitations, our team implemented fall-protection systems — using harnesses and secure anchor points — to ensure the safety of all personnel throughout the project.
Our Strategic Approach
Our comprehensive approach combined detailed cleaning, precision relining, and advanced spray-lining technology to deliver a superior and lasting result. Here’s how we did it:
Stack Cleaning & Preparation
We began by cleaning all stacks to remove rust and sewer matter. Using Picote chains, sandpaper, and high-pressure water blasting, we ensured each surface was properly prepared for maximum adhesion during relining and spray lining.
Relining of Two Sewer Stacks
Two stacks (100mm and 80mm) were fully relined from the top floor down to the open pipe in the car park — approximately 30 metres each. This sealed all cracks and leaks, while 45 junction cuts were reinstated across the two stacks to restore full system functionality.
Spray Lining of the Remaining Five Stacks
The remaining five stacks were treated using a polyurethane spray-lining system, providing a smooth, long-lasting internal coating for enhanced durability and resistance to future wear.
Quality Control & Safety
Our commitment to quality and safety guided every step. Rigorous inspections ensured compliance with plumbing standards, and continuous monitoring guaranteed all safety measures — including working-at-height protocols — were strictly followed.
Final Thoughts
The project concluded successfully, with the client expressing complete satisfaction in both the quality of work and minimal disruption to residents. Despite weather-related scheduling challenges, our team maintained efficiency, safety, and superior workmanship throughout.
